It’s no secret that liquid lipsticks, earthy/neutral colors and matte hues have been dominating the lipstick scene lately. (Thanks in part to Kylie’s lip kit craze.) I would personally compare finding the perfect-toned dark lipstick (not too purple, not too brown, not too gothic) to finding your prince charming — you have to kiss A LOT of frogs to get there. But not to worry, I’ve done all of the dirty work for you, so you can skip the slimy smooches and jump right to liquid lipstick perfection.
Anastasia Beverly Hills has a fantastic liquid lipstick, and Sephora carries a great selection. Some liquid lipsticks can bee too dry or feel like they’ve been caked on… this one is not that. The consistency is great, the color goes on smoothly and it’s easy to apply. I finally settled on the color Vamp, which is kind of deep burgundy color. Don’t you love??
Even though it’s not necessary to use a liner with a liquid lipstick, I still prefer to use one. It’s pretty easy to accidentally “color outside of the lines” with a liquid lipstick, and if nothing else, your liner acts as a guide and a barrier so you don’t end up looking like you’re about to join the circus. While the colors do not necessarily match, I used a NARS Velvet Lip Liner in the Mirihi Island Beach color because I already had it on hand. The colors complement each other well, and the Vamp liquid lipstick masks most of the liner.
