Do you ever have those weekends where everything just aligns? You love the outfit you’re rocking, the weather couldn’t be better and you get to spend time with your favorite people. Those are the kinds of weekends I live for, and last weekend was just that, thanks in part to my new favorite gingham top. When you wear something you love, you just feel great.
Even though the weekend was packed to the brim, it was incredibly fun and enjoyable. My parents live near the Des Moines area, and I traveled down to celebrate my mom’s 50th birthday, mother’s day and my little sister’s dance recital. Fortunately, before all of the festivities began, we were able to squeeze in a visit to the Des Moines Farmers Market on Saturday morning. Now, if you’ve never been, the Des Moines Farmers Market is much more than a little market to grab some fresh produce. It is an experience and an outing. Live music from street musicians set the vibe as you walk through the downtown blocks perusing produce stands, baked goods, fresh flowers and decor items. If you ever find yourself in Des Moines on a summer, Saturday morning, I would highly recommend checking it out.
Our first stop at the market was for iced coffee and a 32-ounce mimosa. (Big birthdays call for big mimosas, of course!) We took our drinks to-go and spent the next few hours shopping, sampling and strolling. Pro-Tip: The Des Moines Farmers Market gets packed quickly. Especially if you’re bringing your littles and need to take a stroller, go early when it opens at 7 a.m. to avoid the crowds and the heat.
Now, let’s get back to the real reason why we’re here. And that’s this amazing bell sleeve, off-the-shoulder gingham top from Target. Gingham is everywhere this spring and summer, and I’m so on board. The pattern is ultra- flattering, and gingham just gives off those casual-chic vibes that are perfect for day drinking or strolling around a farmers market. While I can’t get enough of my gingham top, I know I won’t be stopping there when it comes to gingham style. I’ve already added the Boohoo gingham swimsuit from ASOS (featured below) to my collection, and I’m hoping to add a dress from The Reformation next.
I’ve rounded up some of the best gingham pieces out there right now for you to peruse below. Let me know in the comments which ones are your favorites.

p.s. I promise the last two pieces from The Reformation have a gingham color option. 🙂
