Whether you’re always on the go or planning for a once-in-a-lifetime getaway, packing for a trip can nearly drive you to drink. I’ve spent hours agonizing over whether or not I can fit my favorite oversized sweaters for cool evenings on the beach even though the forecast calls for 90 degrees. Or what if I happen to NEED my most glamorous pair of heels and I didn’t pack them? While I can’t necessarily help you with your wardrobe choices, I’ve rounded up some of my favorite packing accessories that will help you organize your suitcase and save some space (as well as your sanity.)
Packing Accessories: Wash & Wear Lingerie Bag Set
My friend Michelle gave me the cutest Kate Spade Wash & Wear Lingerie Bag Set as a gift for my bachelorette party. And I haven’t left home without them since. It’s also made me wonder what the heck I was doing traveling so long without something like this. (Seriously.) Packing items like swimsuits, hosiery and underwear loose in my suitcase always stressed me out and made my bag look like a chaotic mess. With one swimsuit top shoved in a shoe and a pair of socks stuffed under my t-shirts, I’d have to tear my whole suitcase apart to actually find basic essentials. Now, I throw everything in my “to wear” bag, and it’s all in one place. Plus, it takes the guesswork out of which pair of underwear you should throw on in the morning. 🙂 It’s also a breeze coming home and tossing the contents of the “to wash” bag right in the laundry.
Packing Accessories: Packing Cubes
Before we go any further, I have to admit my friend Trudy shared this next packing tip with me, and it’s just too good not to share with the whole wide world. (Thank you, Trudy!) These Packing Cubes from eBags actually transformed the whole packing experience for my last European venture, and I plan to use them for all of my future trips. They are the best solution I’ve found for organizing your suitcase, and they really ensure everything fits seamlessly into your bag. When I travel, I designate one packing cube for pants, one packing cube for sweaters and another for blouses, etc. When I need an item I know exactly where to find it without having to toss everything out of my suitcase, and it easily goes right back into the bag. If you really planned ahead, you could even organize your cubes by outfit, and never have to worry about putting pieces together on the road. The packing cubes are super lightweight, and they come in a variety of sizes and colors to fit every traveler’s needs.
